    Rudy.Ryback@lorowing.com

Rudy Ryback comes to LOCR after having most recently been Co-Head Coach of Asheville Youth Rowing Association. In his eight years at Asheville, the most recent four years saw crews qualify for Youth Nationals. Two of those four years had produced National Championship crews.

Prior to Asheville, Rudy was the Head Coach at Washington University in St. Louis between 2010–2012, where his crews won the Head of the Charles, Dad Vail Regatta, and ACRA National Championships. Before that Rudy cut his teeth as Assistant Coach at Washington University in St. Louis while concurrently coaching with the St. Louis Rowing Club Juniors & Masters between 2006–2010.

Rudy started rowing in high school for the St. Louis Rowing Club Juniors in 1998, rowed through high school and college at the University of Colorado at Boulder (2000–2005), and currently competes as a Masters rower. He won the FISA World Masters Championships in 2018.

  • Bucky Mecham

    Middle School Head Coach

Bucky has been coaching the Middle School program at LOCR since 2023.

A late start youth rower at age 16, Bucky found quick success in Novice and Varsity 4+ and 8+ races. Since then, he has continued to row and accrued 8+ years of experience in mixed boats. He’s experienced it all: sculling, sweeping, switching sides, and even getting over career-threatening injuries.

He still competes at the Masters level in whatever boat he can get into.

Bucky has three years of coaching experience in collegiate and youth rowing.
